    Former Gryphons Excel as UCC Wins Fourth Straight Championship!

    Former SHS Gryphon football players Yassine Belkhou (Class of 2016) and Josh Archibald (2015), along with Coach Oliver Maurovich (2009) helped power Upper Canada College to a fourth consecutive CISAA title.

    Josh, a two-way playing captain, caught a touchdown pass offensively, while Yassine, a starting linebacker, forced a recovered a key fumble late in the game to help seal the win.

    On behalf of all of Selwyn Athletics, we wish this trio our most sincere congratulations, and best of luck going forward!

    Gryphons Fly High, Unable to Stick Landing Against Josephine-Dandurand

    Gryphons started out flying all over the football field. After strong performances on both sides of the ball, Gryphons ended the first quarter 12-0. During the second quarter, Gryphons showed a lot of resilience, however, turnovers and penalties proved to be their Achilles heel. Gryphons ended the first half down 14-12.  A lengthy game continued, Gryphons ran out of steam and faced adversity with a strong effort from the offense, defense and special teams. The final score of the game was 20-12. This game concluded pre-season and training camp for the Gryphons. The first game will be versus Mont St. Louis, @ Molson Stadium, Friday, September 09, 2016, 13h30.
     


    Gryphons Grind Out Tough Win Against Ste.-Anne

    The Gryphons came out of their exhibition game with a hard-fought win, 23-18, over College Ste.-Anne on a last minute drive engineered by Oliver Quon. Quon threw a touchdown pass to Vince Rizzolo, who also scored on a 40-yard run, to go ahead late. All three Selwyn quarterbacks saw action in the contest. Tyler Stern also contributed with over 100 yards rushing and another touchdown. Thomas Doheney caught 5 passes. Other receptions were recorded by Eric Zimmerman and Luca De Carolis. Defensively, Joey Cocoran had two interceptions and Luca Di Batista pitched in with a couple of sacks.


    Gryphons Grand Versus Jean-Jacques Bertrand

    28-0 was the final score in favour of the Gryphons against École Secondaire Jean-Jacques Bertrand from Farnham. Tyler Stern and Vince Rizzolo had two touchdowns a piece. Oliver Dubrovaky, O’Shae Ho-Sang, Luca De Carolis , Tyler Stern, and Vince Rizzolo all had solid yardage on the ground. In the air, all three quarterbacks threw touchdown passes. Oliver Quon, in addition to playing at quarterback also chipped in with two pass receptions. Defensively Joey Corcoran had two interceptions and Matt Levine had one. The line was led by veteran Andrew Mullins-Grant. Andrew will be counted on to anchor a very young offensive and defensive line.
