|Gryphons Come Up Just Short in Season Opener Against Bialik|
The first game of the midget soccer season was against an opponent who had won their first game decisively. Selwyn started the game un-intimidated, trading offensive chances with Bialik. Both teams made defensive stops and had quick breakouts. Selwyn was called on a close offside call, and Bialik pushed the ball up the field quickly and scored the first goal of the game. A few minutes later, Bialik scored again to go up 2-0. After the goal, Selwyn tightened up defensively and held Bialik shotless for the rest of the half. In the final minute of the half, the Gryphons scored their first goal of the season and cut the Bialik lead to 1. Bialik and Selwyn traded second half goals, and in the dying minutes of the game, Selwyn attacked with continuous pressure and almost managed to tie the game.
