Preseason Letter

Coach Addona
Dear Parents,
The summer is flying by! I hope that you are all well and enjoying the beautiful weather.
If you are new to the Cadet Football family, welcome! If you were with us last year, great to
have you back! My name is Matthew Addona; I am a Phys Ed. Teacher at Selwyn and the head
coach of the Cadet Football team.
This email contains our pre-season football camp schedule and regular season game schedule.
Please cross-reference these documents with your calendars to minimize conflicts that might
arise this season. If you see any, it would be greatly appreciated if you advise us ASAP so we
can make the necessary adjustments.
Football is a sport like no other; it requires exceptional physical fitness, intelligence, mental
toughness and an incredible amount of preparation. The foundation of a team is laid in pre-
season training camp and can determine its success or failure. It is also when we introduce
contact and build the skills necessary to play the game safely. We need your boys to be there
for all team practices, meetings, and events. If your son is unable to attend the pre-season
training camp, please let us know the days he will be missing as soon as possible.

This season, your boys will be challenged both physically and mentally. However, our
experienced coaching staff will do their best to ensure that it’ll be an experience they will
remember for the rest of their lives. It is important to understand that this journey will not be the
same for all boys. The Cadet football team is a competitive environment. Playing time will not
be distributed evenly. Our coaches will do their best to play as many players as possible, but
there will be times when some boys don’t see the field. The message from home must be the
same as from the coaches; playing time is earned through hard work and dedication.

Thank you for your time; I look forward to seeing you cheer on your boys this season. If you
have any questions, please feel free to email me.

Best Regards,

Matt Addona
