Penner featured in Global interview

Michael Penner ’86 was featured in a lengthy interview with Global News on May 8. Michael is the first anglophone to be appointed chairman of Hydro Quebec, a position he has now held since October 2014. The selection of Michael to head up “the jewel of Quebec’s Crown corporations” was an unexpected one, even to him.

“Whatever it is you are going to do, do it in the most honest way with the most integrity and you’d be surprised,” he told Global News.

“I was pretty surprised of where I landed.”

Michael started out as a lawyer and then became president and CEO of Peds Legwear. In addition to his job at Hydro, Michael serves on the board of directors of Scotiabank.

Also very active in his community, he has been very active with Centraide, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts’ annual fundraising drive, and has served on the board of les Grands Ballets Canadiens de Montréal, as well as on the board of McGill University and Selwyn House School.
