Tune in to watch Nick Johnson’s valedictorian speech at Princeton

Selwyn House Old Boy Nicholas Johnson 2015 will be delivering the valedictorian’s address at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 31 as part of Princeton University’s virtual commencement for the Class of 2020.

The news has been trumpeted by news organizations all over North America since it was announced that he is the first black valedictorian in the university’s 274-year history. This fact is particularly noteworthy in view of Princeton’s historical ties to slavery.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama and US Senator Kamala Harris of California—two prominent members of the American black community—tweeted their congratulations. Cory Booker, the black senator from New Jersey, also reportedly called Nick to offer his congratulations.
