James Swan drafted by Mooseheads

It was announced on June 8 that Selwyn House Grade 10 student James Swan has been drafted 28th overall by the Halifax Mooseheads of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The five-foot-six centre played for the Lac St-Louis Lions in the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League, where he was tied for 32nd in league scoring with 33 points.

“He’s a strong, stocky guy,” saidMooseheads General Manager Cam Russell. “He can hit, he plays in your face and he can score, so he’s just one of those guys that’s very hard to play against.”

Swan was ranked 59th by the QMJHL Central Scouting Service, but independent scouting service HockeyProspect.com had him rated 12th.
“We felt that where we got him was a steal,” Russell said. “He was another guy that we had targeted that we really, really wanted to get. We were thrilled we got him at 28.”
“Such exciting news, James,” says Selwyn House Headmaster Hal Hannaford. “I am so happy for you. You continue to be an inspiration to many—me, especially. You are the ultimate example of the reality that ‘good guys who work hard’ create so many advantages. Very impressive.”
