Orange Shirt Day acknowledges Indigenous suffering

September 30 was Orange Shirt Day in Canada, a day to recognize the suffering of Indigenous communities brought about by the Indian residential school system, an institution that has been labelled a cultural genocide. The Indigenous Student Committee of Selwyn House sold orange t-shirts throughout the school as a fundraiser for the INDSPIRE organization. Their entire stock of 200 shirts was sold out. Members of the committee also made the video below, in which they recount the history of the residential schools.
