Flags at half mast in memory of residential children

In light of the remains of 215 Indigenous children that were recently found at a former residential school in Kamloops, British Columbia, the flags above Selwyn House School are at half mast today. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Tk’emlups te Secwépemc First Nation, the survivors of residential schools, as well as the families and communities affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.

Beyond our condolences, I must emphasize that Selwyn House is deeply committed to a journey of healing and growth in this regard. Today, and in the months and years to come, we will continue the important work of our Indigenization Process to put our thoughts and intentions into action.

In a show of support, we are asking all staff and students to wear their Orange Shirt or anything Orange all week.
