Juvenile soccer team survives nail-biting semi-final

The Selwyn House Juvenile Soccer team pulled off a victory in their playoff semi-final against West Island College on Tuesday, November 2, by a score of 2-1.

One hundred Selwyn fans were on hand to watch the Gryphons face the offensively powerful Voyageurs, who couldn’t find momentum as our boys stuck to their game plan and kept possession of the ball. The game remained scoreless after the first half.

The Gryphons opened the second half with some early scoring chances. Ten minutes in, the boys put the school on the board thanks to a goal from inside the 10 yard box. The team scored a second goal ten minutes later. The Voyageurs stormed back, scoring a goal in the final 10 minutes. The Gryphons hung on, withstanding pressure from their opponent who almost tied the game in the final minute.

In the end, the Gryphons emerged victorious and will move on to the championship game on Friday, November 5.
