Senior School Academic Awards

Selwyn House Senior School students were recognized for achievements made during the 2021-2022 school year at the school’s fall Academic Awards Ceremony on September 21. Awards ranged from High Honours, Outstanding Effort and Conduct, to Cum Laude and subject prizes. It was wonderful to have parents present for the first time in two years.

The Talat Chughtai ’85 Award for the Grade 9 student who has shown exceptional effort, achievement and passion for the Health Sciences, was presented in-person for the very first time by the award's namesake. Talat took time to attend the ceremony while visiting Montreal from his home in Qatar. Talat told the students that his path to becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon and his love of sciences began with his Grade 9 science teachers at Selwyn House School.

Headmaster Downey concluded the ceremony with a message to the students telling them to take advantage of the opportunities around them and the support of their teachers and coaches who really care about them. He also reminded the students to "get engaged in school, be a positive member of the community, enjoy life, take care of one another and be kind."
