Alumni Parent "Bee Strong" Initiative

Grade 7 student, Henry Krieble, shared his aunt's cancer survival story in the Junior Agora on February 13. Alumni parent Judy Martin started the "Bee Strong" cards initiative at the Cedars Center when she was in remission. She also created the idea of comfort kits for patients undergoing cancer treatment. The kits provide patients with a water bottle, blanket, notebook and a hand-drawn "Bee Strong" card. The cards remind them that they are not alone in their fight against cancer and that people all over Montreal are rooting for their recovery. This is all too familiar as cancer affects most families.

Selwyn House School is happy that Grade 4 students could participate this year by making cards for the next batch of patient comfort kits. Ms. Martin is well known to the SHS community. In addition to being Henry's aunt, she is married to Michael Martin '66 and parent of Keith Martin '02.
