Islanders win Bol d'Or thanks in part to two Gryphons

Ethan Daoust 2016 and Alexandros Varvarigos 2019 were part of a dream season for the John Abbott College Islanders, who won the CEGEP Division II Bol d'Or on Friday, November 15th.

The championship match, held in Thetford Mines and featuring CEGEP d'Édouard Montpetit as Abbot's opponent, was the third straight Bol d'Or appearance for the program. However, the 42-28 win represented the first provincial title for Abbott in seventeen years.

Daoust, a graduating offensive lineman and regular starter for over two seasons, will go out on a high note and will look to begin his university career moving forward.

Varvarigos, in his first year in the program, made the team as a special teams contributor and linebacker, and will look to take the momentum of the big victory forward into his first collegiate off-season.

The Montreal Gazette also covered the story, which can be read here.
