Obituary: John Udd '52
UDD, John Eaman Ph.D., P. Eng. Died suddenly on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Courtyard on Eagleson at the age of 80. Beloved husband of Mary Thea. Loved father of John Ragnar (Bobbi), and Thea Louise (Mark). Grandfather of Jack, Emma, Bronwyn, and Charlotte. Loved brother of Mary Belfoi (the late Ron) and the late Richard. John received his Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate degrees from McGill University, and subsequently became Director of the Mining Engineering Program and founding Director of the University's Office of Colleges and Schools Liaison. He then joined Falconbridge Nickel Mines, before being appointed Director of the Mining Research Laboratories of the federal government (1984-2010). The family would like to thank the staff of the Courtyards on Eagleson for their care and compassion. A celebration of John's life was held at Christ Church Cathedral, Ottawa on October 12, 2017. at 2 p.m., reception to follow. Donations in memory of John to the Ottawa Mission would be appreciated.
