Middle School celebrates Black History Month

As Black History Month, February kicked off with a joint Middle and Senior School assembly provided by Overture with the Arts, entitled Tracking Black Canada Part 2. “The session was both informative and inspirational!” says Middle School Head Sebastien Lajoie.

Overture with the Arts is a non-profit Montreal-based organization for education in music, dance, drama and voice.

“The Middle School hallways are alive with hundreds of images of influential people of colour,” Mr. Lajoie adds. “Thanks to our resident artist—and FOCUS program supervisor—Mr. Kang for curating the collection that includes our very own Selwyn House Old Boy, Nicholas Johnson 2015, the first Black valedictorian of Princeton University.”

Ms. Russett and Ms. Corbie also put together a fun learning activity using the images. Students with the most correct answers received a prize!
