Obituary: Cindy Morton

Our dearest friend and Selwyn House colleague, Cindy Morton, died on April 16, 2021, following a long and valiant struggle with cancer. Her sister, Jill writes that she “passed away peacefully, with (son) David and (husband) Ian holding her hand. Exactly the way she would have wanted it.”

Cindy was always delightful company and a beloved figure at Selwyn House, especially in the Advancement Department. Her friendly smile was a constant at the registration table at golf and hockey tournaments, reunions and many other Old Boy events.

Cindy became Advancement Office Assistant at Selwyn House in September 2012, but she had been a part of the school for years before. Her brothers Derek '67 and Peter '70 attended the school, as did her nephews Jeffery 2002 and Alex 2005. She also shared Selwyn connections with many of her fellow cottagers at Métis. “At Selwyn House, Cindy was always willing to lend a hand, and always took the time to talk to everyone and ask about their families,” says Annual Giving Director and close friend Mary Ann Cloherty. “Her vibrant character and energy, her quick wit, her wonderful smile and her infectious laugh will be with us always.”
