  • Selwyn rides 3 game unbeaten streak into Playoffs

    In the 'Black Gryphons" final regular season game of the season in division 4.1B they looked to improve on their previous 5-1 loss to Loyola. Following two regulation wins the Gryphons have starter gaining confidence in themselves and their teammates, and all at the right time.
    Loyola stated the game strong scoring first using their speedy attackers. Selwyn responded with 15 minutes of offensive pressure and all 10 players contributing. Tieing the game with a strong Da Silva Rosa kick. Loyola then pulled ahead just before the half, but a half-time speech by Coach Held which was described by some players as 'inspiring' and 'motivational' lifted the Gryphons into the 2nd half. Speedy striker Mateo Novak tied the game again. The Gryphons allowed Loyola one more lead in the game before Daniele Nicastro tied it up late in the game. The Gryphons continued to keep pressure and played strong defense in the final minutes to prevent any more Loyola leads. 
    The Bantam Black team now has a 3 week break from games before playoff series begin. As they await their next opponent the young Gryphons look to remain sharp and motivated riding a positive team win.
  • Selwyn sits in 1st place

    With 1 game remaining in the regular season Selwyn secured a playoff spot in a 5-2 win over Lower Canada College during Monday's match. With a chance to climb the standings and write their own fate The Gryphons won their 2nd game of the season. Coming off a 8-2 win vs. LCC a week prior The Gryphons started slow, and maybe overconfident. Missed kicks, and hitting the posts was cause for frustration earlier in the match. The young Gryphons refocused scoring first. LCC tied the game shortly after, but a Selwyn PK put them ahead and they didn't look back. Selwyn looks to close out it's regular season on Wednesday vs. Loyola.
  • Selwyn secures first win of season with goals early and often

    The Selwyn House Bantam Team 'Black' Division 4.1 soccer team won their first game on the season against Lower Canada College by a score of 8-2. This is the second game the Gryphons have played this season. The boys displayed strong passing and kept pressure on attacking players early in the game. The Gryphons opened the scoring by putting 5 unanswered goals past LCC before the half. In the second half the focus was on ball control and passing, trying to maintain possession.  Goals were scored in a variety of ways from far kicks, to strong passing plays in the box. The Gryphons look to maintain this forward momentum when this visit LCC on Monday. Selwyn goal scorers were: G.Cerere, G.DaSilvaRosa, A.LiberatoreMorandi, T.Mizrahi, V.Salvatore, and L. Vella.
  • Soccer Pre Season Camp Set To Begin On August 23rd

    It is with excitement that the soccer coaches are looking forward to welcoming the students back on the field. All players interested in trying out for Bantam (Grades 7 & 8), Midget (Grades 9 & 10), or Juvenile (Grade 11) teams are asked to report to Mr. LaPerle, Mr. Elbling, Mr. Govan, Mr. Held, Mr. Maxwell, and Mr. Moore at the Westmount Park field located on the corner of Sherbrooke and Melville on Monday, August 23rd at 2:15.

    Pre Season Camp Itinerary

    August 23-27
    Grades 7 & 8 practice from 2:30 - 4:30 on Westmount Junior Fields.

    Times are subject to change for the week of August 29; however, as it stands now: On August 30 and 31, Grades 7 & 8 will practice at Junior Field from 3:00 -4:30.
