Drama

The Selwyn House School drama program seeks to develop compassion in students by deepening their understanding of the human spirit through acting, playwriting, improvisation, collective creation, directing and, of course, performance. We encourage students to take risks, to be supportive of their peers, to question their world and to be creative. The study of human behaviour through the performing arts can empower students with lifelong tools, regardless of the eventual path they take.

Each year, the Elementary, Middle and Senior Schools each stage a play as an extracurricular activity. In recent years, our Elementary School Players presented The Jungle Book, Oliver, and The Wizard of Oz. The Middle School Players produced plays such as Animal Farm, How To Succeed in High School Without Even Trying, All I Really Need to Know I Learned From Being a Zombie and the original sketch show Live from Selwyn House. The Senior School Players have produced such plays as Almost Maine, Treasure Island, and Robin Hood.
