SHS - RE - Generation

E - Inspiration:

  • 2040 maps out a pathway for change that can lead us to a more ecologically sustainable. Watch the trailer here or the full documentary. This documentary is relevant for Grade 3 onwards. All will be inspired.

SELWYN'S INDEX

  • Canadians take on average 4 800 steps a day.
  • 62% of Canadians compost kitchen waste. (2019)
  • Carbon emissions from public transportation is almost 50% lower than car travel.
  • Selwyn’s new Opus & Cie program will save employees about $75 per month !

Eco Happenings - Onside & Offside

  • SHS has entered into a three year partnership with a grassroots organization called Climate Action Accelerator Program (CAAP). CAAP is an organization working to create a climate action movement with private schools across Canada. More to come on this.
  • Liam in grade 6 is working on a sequel to the Founder’s Day kindness video. Stay tuned.  


  • Sodexo is monitoring and minimizing pre-consumer food waste. All food scraps are being weighed and recorded. SHS plans to do the same for post consumer waste in 2024
  • Offside: Let’s make sure that our utensils and cutlery do not end up in the compost bins. This contaminates the compost. Ouch!
