"A gentle, loving soul who touched all who knew him with his open heart, generous spirit, wicked humour and magnificent smile."

Paul attended Selwyn House School from 1970-1981. During those years, Paul was a member of the wrestling team and played Senior soccer. At the 1981 SHS track meet, he won the Victor Ludorum Award—the event's highest and most prized accolade. According to Paul's grad yearbook quote, his Selwyn House dream was "to go to Quebec City, tamper with computers and change [the school’s] matric results." Paul continued to pursue his interest in computer technology as a detailed network planner for Bell Canada.
Paul's two brothers also attended Selwyn House — his twin Christian Broomfield '81 and Michael Broomfield '91.
