Juvenile D3 Gryphons Basketball Team Capture First-Ever GMAA Championship

On February 26, the Juvenile D3 Basketball team accomplished a first in the program's history: they won the GMAA Juvenile D3 Basketball Championship. Finishing with an undefeated 13-0 record, the Gryphons defeated Royal West 64-40 in the championship game.  The group played with a connected and collective energy throughout the playoffs, culminating in our first finals victory.  The team was led by Grade 11 guards Izzy U., Jai-Len C., and Tnias L., who was also named Finals MVP.  Henry W. made some timely defensive stops and some highlight offensive plays, while Will H. contributed strongly off the bench. There was tremendous support from both the staff and student body that allowed the players to feed off their energy and enthusiasm. The team now will be heading to the D3 Provincials in mid-April, attempting to win our first Juvenile D3 Provincial Championship. - Mr. Merritt '04, Head Coach
