Grade 8 Students Find Their Voice in Persuasive Speaking Contest

Over the past several weeks, our Grade 8 students have been working hard on persuasive speaking in class. As part of this unit, each student prepared and delivered a persuasive speech using a variety of rhetorical techniques and public speaking strategies.

Following the classroom presentations, each core group selected 3–4 students to represent their class in our persuasive speaking contest. These students presented their speeches in front of a panel of judges, who evaluated them based on organization, delivery, persuasive techniques, and overall effectiveness. Congratulations to Andrew L., Alex M., and Tomas F. G. for winning the competition. We are very proud of the effort all students demonstrated throughout this process. Public speaking can be challenging, and it was wonderful to see students grow in confidence, communication skills, and critical thinking. - Ms. Russet, Middle School English teacher
