Johnson provincial chess champ two years in a row

On April 28, Selwyn House Grade 9 student Nicholas Johnson won the Quebec provincial chess championship for his grade level for the second year in a row.
On April 28, Selwyn House Grade 9 student Nicholas Johnson won the Quebec provincial chess championship for his grade level for the second year in a row.

Hu Ji Yao (Grade 11) came in third in his grade level; Tony Li (Grade 4) came in tenth in his grade level.

Nicholas will advance to the Canadian championship, to be held at Carleton University in Ottawa in May.

Last year, Nicholas also won the provincial championship at his grade level and was a member of the Quebec Provincial Chess Team that finished in second place overall at the Canadian National Chess Challenge.
