Group of Gr 11 students venture on a Five Day Hiking Expedition

A group of grade 11 students culminated their Selwyn House outdoor experiences with one last monumental five day adventure of back country hiking from May 4-8 at Montagne du Diable at Ferme-Neuve. Lead by Mr Deegan and Mr Pickrell, the expedition involved hiking into two off the grid huts with a gruelling 7 hour hike to the summit. They enjoyed the views from the summit and a rest day at the south hut before descending on an 8 hour journey back to civilization. Over the years, all of these boys have found peace, reflection and meaningful adventures in the outdoors through the Selwyn Outdoor Education Program. During our last circle together they expressed powerful sentiments of gratitude for these experiences. We know their life will be filled with many more as they continue on their own trails. - Cory Deegan, Outdoor Education Program Coordinator
