Dear Selwyn House Community,
At our first pedagogical day in August of this school year, I shared an image of a tree with faculty and staff. “The Veritas Tree,” as I called it, with leaves representing students, branches representing academics, arts, athletics and activities, and trunk representing our core strengths and values. This has since become a symbol that represents everything we do for our students and for the school. Our Veritas Tree is Rooted in Kindness—the kindness of students, teachers, alumni, parents, and friends. Our school would not be what it is without the kindness of our community.
Under the theme “Rooted in Kindness,” this year’s Annual Giving Campaign appeal is focused on raising funds to be spent this year on programs, bursaries and professional development. Annual gifts from our community provide an extra level of support each school year to help defray costs not covered by tuition alone. The school depends on annual gifts, and we are thankful for the broad participation and generosity of our donors. When smaller donations are pooled together, they make a big difference. The Annual Campaign differs from the upcoming Path Forward Campaign, which focuses on long-term needs. Both are important to the school, and you will learn more about that campaign in the coming weeks.
I invite you to join me in contributing to this year’s annual campaign and supporting Selwyn House, our “Veritas Tree.”
Donations to this year's campaign will support four key areas:
1. Programs, Initiatives and Professional Development
2. Student Bursaries - supporting deserving students
3. The Department of Student Wellness - a holistic approach to student support
4. The Student Success Centre - a source of support for all students
Selwyn House School aspires to be a relational school, an experiential school, and an inclusive school. Small acts of kindness in our day-to-day life have a big impact.
Thank you, in advance, for your kindness and support this year.
