Judy Martin, parent of Old Boy Keith Martin 2002 and a longtime Selwyn House parent volunteer, was one of three persons to receive the 2013 Goldbloom Award from the Quebec Community Groups Network.

Judy was chosen for the award based on her continuing role as volunteer president of Batshaw Youth and Family Centres and as governor of Muscular Dystrophy Canada. She was named a Selwyn House Honorary Old Boy in 2012.

The Goldbloom Award is named in honour of Sheila and Victor Goldbloom ’37. Mrs. Goldbloom served on the Selwyn House Board of Directors and Mr. Goldbloom served on the board of the Veritas Fund. Both have received the school’s Speirs Medal.

The QCGN was formed in 1996. In 2009, the organization inaugurated the Sheila and Victor Goldbloom Distinguished Community Service Award to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to strengthening the English-speaking community and to building bridges of understanding between Quebecers of different backgrounds.

The 2013 award presentation banquet, took place on October 17 at Montreal's St. James Club. Other award winners were: Robina Goodwin, a retired home visit nurse and founder of the Council for Anglophone Magdalen Islanders, and Kevin Tierney, filmmaker and producer of the bilingual hit movie Bon Cop, Bad Cop.
