Johnson wins English Prize at Princeton

Nicholas Johnson 2015 was awarded the Princeton Unversity Class of 1883 English Prize for Freshmen in the Princeton School of Engineering for having written the best paper and having completed the best work in English for the year. He has been hired as a Writing Fellow in Princeton's Writing Center. In this paid position, he will offer undergraduate and graduate students one-on-one workshop/conferences to improve their papers and general writing skills.

“I took a Writing Seminar during my first semester entitled Contemporary Slavery,” writes Nick. “As a capstone project for that class, I wrote a research paper, titled "The Canadian Residential School System: Government Sanctioned Child Trafficking," in which I argued that the Canadian Residential School System should be regarded as an instance of child trafficking according to the current working definition of human trafficking established by the United Nations. Following the recommendation of my professor, I sent the paper to Prime Minister Trudeau in January. Having received no response to date (unsurprisingly), I am currently working with the Martin Family Initiative to try and give my paper more exposure.”

Nick reports having a very good year academically, achieving a 4.0 GPA for having received fours A's and five A+'s in the nine courses he completed in the 2016-2017 year.
