This Fall Selwyn House Senior School also has election fever. Ms. Montgomery, our Director of Academic Innovation and Growth invited three provincial candidates to speak to the Senior School students about the election process, political activism, and their party’s platform. Jennifer Maccarone (Liberal Party), Michelle Morin (CAQ), and Chad Wolcott (Green Party) each took time from the campaign trail to visit Selwyn House.
Questions from our students were, generally, thoughtful and challenging, dealing with issues ranging from immigration and international affairs to language legislation and Donald Trump.
Ms Maccarone’s campaign manager is Michael Forian, who graduated from Selwyn House in 2011. Prior to this, Michael served as a political advisor within the Quebec Liberal government of Philippe Couilliard while completing his degree in Indigenous Affairs at Concordia University.
On October 1, Senior School students will have a mock election organized by Mr Merritt’s political science class. Stay tuned for the results.
