Dominant Home Opener – Selwyn House Gryphons Cruises to 49-14 Win

Kirk Brydges
The Gryphons kicked off their season in style with a dominant 49-14 victory in their home opener, overwhelming CDM in all phases of the game.

Quarterback Jordel Dewey-Springer led an explosive offensive attack, throwing the ball effectively and orchestrating the run game, scoring 2 touchdowns himself. Running back Shelby Gaba powered the ground game with over 200 offensive rushing yards and two scores, capping off his performance with a third touchdown on an 80 yard kickoff return. The offense struck early and often, building a 36-0 lead by halftime and never looking back.

But it wasn’t just the offense that stole the show — the Gryphons defense was relentless, forcing three interceptions and shutting down any momentum the visiting team tried to build. Cornerback Adi Raisman led the charge with 2 picks, while safety Jack Shatilla added an interception of his own which was returned deep into enemy territory, setting up another quick score.

The defense held CDM scoreless for almost three quarters before allowing two late touchdowns with the game well in hand.

It was a statement win for the Gryphons, who start the season 1-0 and look poised for a strong year. They'll aim to keep the momentum rolling Thursday Sept 11 against ES Calixa-Lavallee.
