Game 2 Recap: Dominant Victory Showcases Team Depth and Star Power

Kirk Brydges
In their second game of the season, the Selwyn House Gryphons delivered a resounding 55–8 victory that left no doubt about their growing momentum and collective strength. From the opening kickoff to the final whistle, it was a complete team effort, punctuated by standout performances on both sides of the ball.

On defense, linebacker Jasper McIver turned in a stellar performance, flying to the ball on every snap and setting the tone with relentless pressure and textbook tackling. Whether it was stuffing the run or dropping back in coverage, his presence was felt all over the field.
Offensively, tailback Shelby Gaba exploded for multiple touchdowns, showcasing his elite vision, speed, and power. His ability to break tackles and create big plays was a constant problem for the opposing defense and helped ignite the scoreboard early and often.

Quarterback Jordel Dewy-Springer was equally impressive, spreading the ball with poise and precision to a wide range of targets. His command of the offense allowed the team to stay unpredictable and keep the defense off-balance throughout the game.

Most importantly, this game highlighted the depth of the Gryphons roster. Every player saw the field and each contributed to the win in meaningful ways. Whether it was on special teams, in key backup roles, or closing out the game, the team’s collective effort was on full display.

As the season progresses, the Gryphons team continues to build its identity and depth, setting a strong foundation for the challenges ahead. With momentum on their side and all hands contributing, the future looks bright.

The Gryphons will look to build on this momentum as they prepare for their next match up on Thursday Sept 19th against College Saint Anne.
