On November 28, Selwyn House Grade 9 student Noah Assayag will compete in Round One of the Chopped Canada Teen Tournament, a competition for budding chefs on the Food Network.
"Noah knows for a fact that he wants to become a professionnal chef, and works very hard at it," says his teacher Valerie Arsenault. "He applied on his own to the Teen Tournament. The process was long, but he was chosen in the top 16 among thousands and thousands of applicants."
"Even though 13-year old Noah from Westmount, QC is one of the youngest teen competitors, he brings a decade of cooking experience and more than five years of culinarytraining under his belt," says the Food Network website. "He is so far along with his training at Academie Culinaire (under Chef Daniel Trottier from Chopped Canada Season 1) and Mezza Luna Cooking School that this aspiring restaurateur has to take advanced courses with adults. He plans to distribute part of his winnings to a child in Africa, send his grandparents to visit France, and save the rest for his continuing culinaryeducation."
