A Sweet Way to Learn Math
A tasty activity in Ms. Morris’ and Ms. Farnell’s Middle School math classes! The activity involved converting a recipe that made a certain amount of mixture into exact quantities for servings. Like a mini situational problem, the students needed to figure out how many servings the recipe made and how to convert that amount to the desired amount for their group. This included converting fractions from mixed to improper, division with fractions, multiplication with fractions and solving word problems. These math concepts were brought deliciously to life for the students, and will certainly make a splash in their memories!
