SHS debaters sweep Ottawa tournament

It was Gryphon vs. Gryphon in the finals of the 2018 Xerxes Cup Debating Tournament, held at Carleton University in Ottawa Nov. 9 and 10. The team of Josh Cohen and Gabriel Di Bert (both Gr. 11) went up against Selwyn House debater Isaac Cape (Gr. 10) and a debater from Colonel By High School who filled in at the last moment for team member Jonah Rosen, who was away. Cohen and Di Bert won the final on the resolution of: “This House Would Issue Pardons by Referendum.” In the Junior Division, the SHS team of Matthew Homa and Dylan Lee (both Gr. 9) made it to the final, but lost to LCC.
