Organizers of Selwyn House School’s Movember campaign raised more than 150 per cent of their goal through a series of events throughout the month of November aimed at also raising awareness of men’s health issues.
The Mo’ Bros campaign was led by: Michael Cararra, Christopher Denham, Daniel Kalichman, Blake Kastner, Jonah Rosen and Enoch Tamale (all Grade 11), who raised a total of $4543 after setting their goal at $3000.
The events that helped raise funds were: a Muck (as in Mo-Tuck) Shoppe, and a
Silent Auction, in which prizes donated by parents and teachers were auctioned off during parent teacher interviews. Possibly the most popular event was “Tape a Mo' Bro to the Wall,” in which Senior School students donated money to attach pieces of tape to tape social studies teacher Jonathan Merritt to a wall outside Coristine Hall.
The organizing crew also placed a donation bin at the front entrance to the school, and encouraged teachers and students to raise money by creating personal pages on the Movember website.
Old Boy Justin Kuzmicki 2005, who serves as Quebec Business Development Associate for the Movember organization, dropped by the school on Dec. 13 to receive a cheque from the organizing committee.
