DRAW – Data Rescue: Archives and Weather (McGill University)

We are looking for students to help with a research project. You will be requested to read handwritten weather forms from the 19th and early 20th centuries and transcribe the observations into a web app. The transcription task involves typing in handwritten number and matching weather symbols and descriptions such as cloud types to a drop-down list. Tutorials will be available.
We are also hosting a series of webinars for Science Literacy Week, September 21-25. The webinars will introduce participants to the DRAW project and teach them how to transcribe. They will also provide an opportunity for the DRAW Team to answer any questions volunteers may have about the project or specific transcription issues. The webinars will be given in English. You can see the full schedule of our webinars on our Events page.
