Athletics continues during pandemic

This has been an extraordinary year, and the Selwyn House Athletics program has done its best to pivot with the times. Our goal is to offer a range of activities that all our Middle and Senior School students can experience. Since we must remain in our class pods, we rotate our pods through five activities in Middle School and seven activities in Senior School. We manage to maximize the facilities available to us. We also offer several online workouts and challenges that all our students can follow through the Athletics webpage. In addition, the 9/10/11 model includes a hybrid component where the students log on for their PE class when learning from home. Our teachers/coaches are online to lead and challenge the students with activities they can do at home. In recent weeks we have added pod training for our students in the hockey program. Coach LaPerle has set up extra training on weekends and after school. Contact Carl Benoit (benoitc@selwyn.ca or laperlec@selwyn.ca) for details. In the weeks to follow, we will be offering pod development opportunities for our athletes in the basketball program. Stay tuned to the webpage for news on this development.

It is our goal to keep the students active and engaged during this pandemic. We are confident we will return to our regular programming ready to meet the demands and challenges of a spirited athletic program.
