Guzzo and Sabbagh approved for Harvard program

Selwyn House Grade 10 students Vito Guzzo and James Sabbagh have been accepted into this summer’s Pre-College Program at Harvard College Summer School.

Harvard College is the undergraduate college of Harvard University. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the summer 2021 program will be conducted online, just as it was in 2020.

The program is not a high-school program, but a college program for high-school students, explains Program Director Jacqueline Newcomb in James and Vito’s acceptance letters. “Much of your experience this summer will resemble that of a Harvard College student,” she wrote. “We encourage independence in our students, who are responsible for planning their own time and managing demands of rigorous college courses.”

Participating students will get a real taste of life at an Ivy League university, as they take a two-week intensive course in a subject of their choosing and participate in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.

“It’s moments like these that make having five kids 100 per cent worth it for an only child like me,” says Vito’s dad, Selwyn House Old Boy Vince Guzzo ’86. “Congratulations, Vito! The world is yours to explore and help make it a better place for everyone else.”

James is the son of Selwyn House Old Boy Richard Sabbagh '90.
