Eight Old Boys and five staff members attended the annual reunion of Old Boys living in the United Kingdom, conducted by Zoom on March 23. They were: James Phillips '83, George Zarifi ’79, Nicholas Vit 2012, Connor Munro 2014, Anthony Lowther 2008, Robert Spencer-Nairn ’45, Sean McKinnon ’98 and Kyam Shell-Schnitzer 2001 (joining from Toronto). Also attending were staff members Peter Govan, Mike Maurovich, Mike Downey, Mary Ann Cloherty and Sharon Cozens.
After the group swapped a few tales of Selwyn House rugby and hockey, Headmaster Mike Downey brought the group up to date on how things are going at school during the year of COVID-19 restrictions, a year he described as a “fantastic” year in spite of the pandemic challenges.
Athletic Director Mike Maurovich commented on the “plus side” of school life during a pandemic. He said he was impressed with how the students rose to the challenge and demonstrated their loyalty to the school and their fellow students. “You’d be proud to be [attending school] in this atmosphere,” Mr. Maurovich said.
