SHS' Tennis Shines at GMAA Championships

On May 17, Selwyn House School's tennis team competed against four other schools in the GMAA championships. The tournament had three levels of competition: Bantam, Cadet, and Juvenile, with opportunities to win medals and banners. Selwyn House School's team played in both singles and doubles matches across all levels.
 
Leo Huang started strong in the Bantam Singles category with 3 wins and 1 loss, but narrowly missed securing a medal, finishing in 4th place. The team secured a Silver and Bronze medal in the Bantam Doubles category. In the Cadet Singles category, Julian Harasymowycz earned a bronze medal for the school. Jack Haddad and Taryn Mizrahi reached the semi-finals in the Cadet Doubles category but fell short of a medal, finishing in 4th place.
 
The team from Selwyn House School showed their dominance at the Juvenile level, capturing four out of the six medals along with the Juvenile Banner. Alec Barin won the Gold medal in the Singles category, while Loïc Petrecca secured the Bronze medal. Ben Vineberg and Soren Matossian achieved gold in the Doubles category, while Sammy Steinberg, Noah Svetna, and Jonathan Michaud Bang clinched the Bronze medal. Overall, Selwyn House School's team triumphed with seven medals out of twelve, in addition to winning the prestigious Juvenile Banner. This outstanding performance once again highlighted the athletic prowess of the school's tennis team.
