SHS participates in Cedars Dragon Boat for the first time

Selwyn House School participated for the first time in the Cedars CanSupport Dragon Boat race on September 9 in Lachine. Alumni parent Gwen Nacos and Old Boy and Board member Ben Spencer '00 introduced the school to the event which raises funds annually for Cedars CanSupport, a vital program at the Cedars Cancer Center providing free psychological, emotional, practical and financial support to cancer patients and their families.

Selwyn families were involved as volunteers and paddlers in several of the boats.Thanks to our generous Old Boys and friends who sponsored the Selwyn House boat this year!

Of note: A commemorative plaque at the event grounds tells the story of Old Boy J. Campbell Clouston 1915 who attended Selwyn House then went on to LCC and McGill. He was responsible for the evacuation of allied troops during World War II at Dunkirk rescuing over 240,000 troops. The 2017 movie Dunkirk is based on this story.
