SHS Hockey Program Updates

We have some updates concerning next year's SHS Hockey Program and have more to come over the summer so stay tune.
Elementary Program
Under the guidance of Head of Hockey Mike Baslyk, Coach Shayne Jackson will return to the school in a new capacity as the Hockey Development Coordinator for Grade 1 to 4. In the continued evolution of the overall hockey program, the school will be launching a new Elementary offering under the leadership of Coach Jackson which will include inter-school games and tournaments, ensuring these young players are ready to enter our competitive hockey program in Grade 5 and 6 should they so choose.
M13 (Peewee) Offering - D1
We are excited that Coach Brody Armstrong will once again take on head coaching responsibilities at the D1 M13 level. He will be joined on the bench by Coach Ethan Graziano.
M15 (Bantam) Offering - D1 & D3
The school warmly welcomes back Coach Paul Gionis in his new role as the D1 M15 head coach for the 2024-25 season. Coach Gionis was the assistant coach of both the D1 M18 and D1 M13 hockey teams this past season and brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and coaching experience to the program. Coach Nick Sergerie will return as assistant coach for this team.
We are also excited to provide more information about our D3 M15 offering for the 2024-25 season. This team will compete in a provincial league which is a hybrid version of the RSEQ D2/D3 M15 offering in seasons past. It will be a highly competitive offering, and Selwyn's team will play between 20-24 league games in the Montreal and Greater Montreal region followed by playoffs and a provincial championship. The team will compete in one to two tournaments, participate in pre-season and seasonal development as well as regular team practices throughout the hockey season from late October through March. This new hybrid league consists of the following teams from Vincent Massey, WWHS Sr, Cité-des-Jeunes, Soulanges, Boisbriand, L'Assomption, Coteau du Lac, Saint-Sacrement, ÉS Thérèse-Martin, College Charles-Lemoyne, Mgr-A.-M.-Parent, Collège de Montréal, Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf, Collège Jean-Eudes, Collège Reine-Marie, Collège St-Jean-Vianney, and ÉS Père-Marquette.
U17 Varsity Team
Head of Hockey, Michael Baslyk. will oversee the school’s hockey program in its totality and serve as Head Coach for the U17 varsity team’s inaugural season in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL).
