Selwyn House Advancement Director James McMillan was honoured by his colleagues on January 30 at the biennial conference of the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools Advancement Professionals (CAISAP).
The new McMillan-Edwards Award for Advancement Support Staff was created in recognition of Mr. McMillan and his fellow CAISAP board member Laura Edwards, of York House School in BC. Approximately 150 advancement workers representing 64 schools from across the country (plus one in Bermuda) attended the three-day sold-out Montreal conference, which was co-hosted at the Hotel Place-d’Armes in Old Montreal by Selwyn House School and Trafalgar School for Girls.
Billed as “The Best of CAISAP,” the conference featured interactive presentations by CAISAP members, with panelists sharing what's made their programs successful. Topics included: managing data effectively, successful friendraising and fundraising programs, unique communications and marketing initiatives, best office practices, and examples of advancement leadership working with admissions, directors, volunteers, heads of school, and donors.
