On April 23, Grade 11 students attended a "Lunch & Learn" session facilitated by Liane Fransblow and Angeliki Souranis from the MCH Trauma Centre. The session focused on navigating risk-taking behaviours, particularly in the context of parties and celebrations. Key discussions included discussions of alcohol and drug intoxication, arranging safe transportation and, recognizing online predatory behaviors. Additionally, the students learned about the life-saving potential of naloxone.
The overarching theme of the session was cultivating a culture of care and responsibility. Through Ms. Souranis' personal story of losing her son, students were encouraged to make informed decisions that prioritize their well-being, especially as they approach the milestone of graduation and graduation celebrations. - Ms. Springer, School Counsellor
