PVA Farewell Coffee Celebrates 44-Year Career of Selwyn House School's Head of Elementary School
To celebrate Kathy Funamoto's impressive 44-year career at Selwyn House school, the PVA organized a farewell coffee event on May 30, catching Ms. Funamoto by surprise during her regular end-of-day yard duty. This gathering was an opportunity for parents to express their gratitude and say goodbye to their sons' Head of Elementary School.
As PVA member Carla Bogdaneris wrote in her invitation to parents, "It is not an exaggeration to say that Ms. Funamoto has been a part of the fabric of the school and positively influenced several generations of our children in ways we cannot even fully appreciate – it will be a sad day but also a happy one as she moves into the next chapter of her life and on to a well-deserved retirement. There will certainly be a set of formal events arranged by the school, but we thought it would be lovely for people to say goodbye more personally to show their appreciation – and to make this a bit of a surprise! Her dedication has made her an integral part of the school's community, and she has positively influenced countless children over the years. While her departure will be bittersweet, it is an occasion to celebrate as she begins a well-deserved retirement."
