19th annual Old Boys' Tennis Tournament

The 19th annual Old Boys' Tennis Tournament took place on June 9 at the Mount Royal Tennis Club. It has been a few years since the players have been able to play due to rain and COVID. The last tournament of play was 2017!
 
After three rounds, the final showdown featured the dynamic teams of Jamie Ritchie '88 and Nick Kaulbach '94 versus Marc Minogue '07 and Charles Porteous '84. The players showcased their impressive skills and strategized their moves. After a fierce battle, Jamie and Nick emerged victorious demonstrating their remarkable teamwork and unwavering determination to have their names added to the coveted trophy! After a brief trophy and prize presentation, the evening concluded with cocktails and a delicious dinner, where all players celebrated the Selwyn spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie.
 
Competing in the tournament were doubles teams:
Charles Porteous '84 and Marc Minogue '07, Geoff Moore '83 and Thomas Woodfine-MacPherson '14, Jamie Ritchie '88 and Nick Kaulbach '94, Jason Tsadilas '88 and Sebastien Kaine '03, William Carsley '89 and Christopher Politis '99, and Sean Gilman '90 and EJ Boffey '12.
 
Fans included: Headmaster Michael Downey and his wife Laura, four-time trophy winner Colin Ross '51 (Mike Downey's high school chemistry teacher), Mark Lazare '68, former teacher/tennis coach, six-time trophy winner and scorekeeper extraordinaire, Andy Lumsden, the Kaine family, and staff: Kim Auclair, Mary Ann Cloherty, Sharon Cozens. A big thank you to Sam Gold '78 for suggesting a change to a new club and for organizing the format. Thanks to Sam and Jason Tsadilas ’88 for their help in matching up the players.
