Visually impaired entrepreneur challenges Senior Students to champion inclusivity and accessibility in marketing pitch

Senior School students recently welcomed Kim Holdbrook, owner of Hands That See, a massage studio in NDG. In 2020, Kim appeared on "You Can't Ask That," a show that tackles different disabilities in each episode, and she shared her experience as a visually impaired business owner. Mr. Watson just happened to be watching a show and recognized Ms. Holdbrook, an old friend from high school. He took the opportunity to reach out to her and invited her to his class. During her first visit, Kim presented a lecture to our students on her business, soliciting their assistance in marketing. A few weeks later, she returned to the class to hear the five groups present their findings on how to reach more potential customers and make marketing materials accessible to the visually impaired. Mr. Watson even challenged the groups to consider how accessible their pitch was to Ms. Holdbrook, given that she could not see any of their visuals, making this an incredible learning opportunity for our students to contemplate inclusivity and accessibility in marketing. Thank you, Kim, for sharing your inspiring story with us!
