Senior School Athletic Celebration 2025

On May 22, the Selwyn House Senior School Athletic Celebration was a spirited evening that brought together students, staff, alumni, and families to honour the achievements and dedication of our student-athletes across all sports and seasons. The evening began with a wonderful cocktail reception, giving our community a chance to reconnect, celebrate, and reflect on a year filled with memorable athletic moments.
A standout moment was the induction of Alex Moore ’14 into the Selwyn House Athletic Hall of Fame for his exceptional accomplishments in wrestling. It was a pleasure to welcome Alex and his father back to Selwyn, where they helped present this year’s wrestling awards. A special moment of the evening came when Alasdair Martin ’89 presented the Curling Award named in honour of his late father, Jack Martin—a heartfelt tribute that underscored the lasting impact of Selwyn House’s athletic legacy.

Among the major awards of the evening:
  • The David Tobias Team of the Year Award was presented to the Juvenile D3 Football Team, celebrating their teamwork, commitment, and competitive success.
  • The Michael Downey Pre-University Athletic Distinction Award went to Julian Harroch, in recognition of his outstanding athletic performance, leadership, and dedication in his final year.
  • The McMaster Memorial Sportsman Cup was awarded to Paul Evans, honouring his exceptional sportsmanship, character, and positive spirit across all areas of sport.
We also proudly welcomed 14 new members into the Sportsman’s Guild, a long-standing Selwyn tradition recognizing consistent effort, commitment, and sportsmanship throughout a student's athletic journey. This year’s inductees included dedicated staff member Nick Sergerie.

The celebration capped off an incredible year of athletic growth and achievement, reflecting the strength, spirit, and legacy of Selwyn House School’s athletic program.
