Old Boys United reaches semi-finals

Congratulations to Old Boys United on this year's season in the Canadian Corporate Soccer League. They played in the semi-final game on August 20, 2023 at Molson Stadium. Philippe Carvalho-Guertin '20, Manager of Old Boys United Football Club, sent in this recap of their season.

"The team's 2023 season started with a bang as we came on top in our first game. We maintained good form throughout the season securing many draws and victories and a few defeats, and by the end of it we had finished fourth in the regular season, clinching a spot for the playoffs. Throughout the season the lads improved drastically and our chemistry grew with each game and by the end of the season we were a truly formidable foe. The semi-final saw us facing off against our biggest rival, alum from Brébeuf's 2020 graduating year, and it saw us beat them on penalties despite being a man down for 90% of the game. We faced the league winner of the two previous seasons in the final and despite a tremendous first half, the final did not end as we would have liked and we came second. We have come a long way. This year we were celebrating and not finishing last. The players should all pat themselves on the back, and get ready for next season when we will be bringing the trophy home."
