Seven prizes for SHS at Expo-sciences

Selwyn House Elementary students won seven prizes in the 2021 Expo-sciences Hydro-Québec Regional Science Fair, which wrapped up with a virtual awards ceremony on May 4. Students watched from their classrooms as 37 exhibitors competed for $1,800 in prize money.
 
Grayson Steele (Gr. 5) won the Silver Medal in the Juvenile 3 category for his project “Does Standing in a Power Pose Improve Mental Health?” He also won the prize from the Armand Frappier Museum.
 
Mateo Novak (Gr. 6) won the Bronze Award in Juvenile 3 and also the Canadian Society of Meteorology and Oceanography Prize for his project “Wind Power.”
 
Olivier Morin and Spencer Roiter (both Gr. 6) won the Spéléo Québec Prize for Juvenile 3 with their project “The Smell Tastes Good!”
 
Kai Mendell (Gr. 2) won the Gold Medal for Juvenile 1, as well as the “Voiles en voiles” prize for his project, “Lego Sorter.”
