Grade 7 students go back in time

A group of Grade 7 students took a hands-on approach to learning about ancient history on Tuesday, November 2.  With the help of their teacher, Bob Bouskill, the boys wrote their own messages about an imagined Mesopotamian business transaction in English. They transcribed the message into cuneiform, a system of writing that was widely used in the ancient Middle East. The students then created their own ancient tablet using a wedge-shaped stylus and modelling clay.

Mr. Bouskill’s goal was to have his students recreate an artifact archaeologists and historians use to interpret the lives of people living in the Fertile Crescent, a region in the Middle East, thousands of years ago.
