Selwyn House meets "John's House" / Grade 10 community service initiative

On February 10, Nazareth House representatives came to speak to the students about "John's House" residents aged 25-35. The young men in the shelter earn minimum wage or receive welfare, and many suffer from mental health disorders and are at a high risk of homelessness. Employees at John's House assist them with everyday needs, from doctors' appointments to making a budget. The shelter's objective is to get the young men back to independent living with the tools they need to succeed on their own.

Throughout the month of February, Grade 10 students will be diving into a community service project in partnership with The Nazareth Community. Working in their teacher advisory groups, students will be collecting essential summer supplies and fundraising for the residents of John’s House - a subdivision of the Nazareth Community.
